Adventurous heart

Lovebirds

Today

The vertiginous speed, the feeling of freedom, the warm and soft air on my face, the magnificent view over the expensive beauty of the desert and ocean, changed me.
I am French and was brought up in a nice loving middle-class family in the countryside.
After graduating with a Master’s in Business and Foreign languages in France, I was happily married and lived for over 25 years in the UK.
I qualified as a private pilot, owned a Shipyard Agency and represented up to 23 shipyards worldwide.
I know. It was an unusual job for a woman but I loved it.
I started from scratch, with no knowledge of shipyards but I liked the people in the industry.
I came to Walvis Bay for work and, as I just landed from France, Anton invited me to do a tandem skydive.
I thought “well if I survive that one, I will survive anything”!!.
The vertiginous speed, the feeling of freedom, the warm and soft air on my face, the magnificent beauty of the desert and ocean, changed me.
I was in extasy and fell in love in many ways. Anton is now my Life Partner.
It has now been over 12 years since I first set foot in Namibia, which is now my country of residence.
As you have guessed, I am adventurous at heart.
So, during one of my business trips, I came to Namibia and met Anton, to whom I felt attracted like a magnet.
Anton was married with 4 grown-up children.
When I finally moved to Namibia with Anton, I underestimated the many personal and professional challenges of this decision.
I felt uprooted and it took me time, courage, and personal growth to embrace this radical change of life.
I gave my resignation to the Shipyards, and decided to take some time off to reflect and reinvent myself.
In my travels, I used a local travel company in Vietnam that organized my trip, just how I wanted it. It was perfect and I had a wonderful time there.
It was my inspiration to do the same and create Alacarte Travels in Namibia in 2017.
The business was picking up gently when Covid came. Suddenly, I had no more work.
Then I was blessed and thankful when ASTANDER Shipyard asked me if I would like to be their Shipyard Agent again. I said yes, and now represent a total of 4 shipyards with MCC Marine.
In the meantime, I kept Alacarte Travels and today I am running both companies and also blessed to be with Anton.
Learning and changing is a lifelong process.
Alcarte Travels encapsulates my passion for travel and adventure, my love for Namibia, and the local knowledge I have acquired.
Together with the great help of Gerda, who is Namibian, a natural organizer, and a caring listener, our mission is to create for you what you would like to experience during your holiday.
In practical terms, we listen to your wishes, and design for you a virtual itinerary, with day-by-day visuals of where to stay, recommendations for car hire, and suggested activities. Together with the itinerary, we attach a clear and transparent quotation.
When you are happy with the proposal, and send us a deposit, we pay and confirm the bookings with the lodges, with the activity centres, and for the car hire.
Then, closer to the time of your holiday, when you make the full payment, we pay the suppliers and give you all the providers’ reservation references, day-to-day detailed planning, and much more information.
We plan it all for you to enjoy your vacation. And, we are your local point of contact in Namibia before and during your holiday.
We are not perfect but we do our best. :-)
